Sometimes a man tells you he’s not husband material without ever saying; you just have to listen closely. When you talk about marriage, he gently changes the subject. Think about the last time you and your guy discussed the prospect of marriage. If you notice that he changed the subject almost before the discussion began, he’s obviously not into honeymoons, rehearsal dinners and groomsmen. When every serious talk about the future gets dodged, he’s showing you that marriage is not on his radar.

His parents are divorced. If your guy is a product of a contentious divorce, he may view marriage as simply the quickest path to breaking up, in which case, he’s not going to be totally open to the idea of marriage. 3. He’s cheating. If your guy is straying, you’re not going to be the one he’s going to marry. Consider yourself lucky and get out of the relationship quick! A man who links marriage with drama or betrayal is unlikely to rush into planning a wedding, no matter how great you are.

He’s afraid to commit for life. If your guy shudders at the mere mention of a lifetime commitment with you, he’s probably afraid to settle down with just one woman. In that case, he’s not going to run to the jewelry store and buy you a ring. He may like the idea of dating you, but the thought of forever makes him hit the emotional brakes. It’s better to believe his actions now than wait years hoping he’ll suddenly become a ring-shopping romantic.

He hasn’t fully let you into his life. If your guy has a good relationship with his parents and you haven’t met them after a year of dating him, it’s obvious that introducing you to his family is not his top priority. If you can’t name any of his guy friends, you don’t really know that much about him and if you don’t know that much about his past, it could be a sign that he doesn’t view you as the woman he’s going to spend the rest of his life with.
